RAJKOT NEWS: A horrifying road accident on Rajkot’s University Road has claimed the life of a 15-year-old girl after a speeding Honda City car mowed down a mother and daughter riding on a two-wheeler. The shocking incident, captured on CCTV, occurred around 2 PM on November 7, sending shockwaves across the city.

According to official RAJKOT reports, the accident took place near the Shanti Hospital signal on University Road. The victims—45-year-old Darshanaben Kotecha and her daughter Dhruvi Kotecha—were traveling on an Activa scooter when a Honda City car, allegedly driven recklessly by a woman identified as Kritika Sheth, hit them from behind. The impact was so severe that both were thrown off the scooter, suffering critical injuries.
Eyewitnesses at the scene stated that the car was moving at an extremely high speed and showed no signs of slowing down before the collision. Local authorities said that the mother and daughter were heading toward their relative’s house for the Bhai Bij festival lunch when tragedy struck.
Following the crash, both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital. While Darshanaben sustained fractures to both arms and injuries to her ribs, her daughter Dhruvi suffered severe head trauma. Despite immediate medical attention, Dhruvi succumbed to her injuries during treatment, leaving the family and community in deep grief.
The University Police have confirmed that the driver, Kritika Sheth, was arrested soon after the accident. Police officials have begun further investigation to determine whether negligence, over-speeding, or distracted driving was the cause. The Honda City involved in the accident bore the registration number GJ03JR1459.
Darshanaben, the complainant, is the wife of Devang Kotecha, the owner of Jagdish Mandap Service in Rajkot. She stated in her FIR that she was riding her father-in-law’s scooter (number GJ03DJ7002) when the speeding car suddenly rammed into them from behind, resulting in the devastating collision.
The CCTV footage from nearby shops has gone viral on social media, highlighting yet another instance of reckless driving on Rajkot’s busy roads. Residents and activists have urged authorities to implement stricter traffic monitoring on major city roads to prevent such avoidable tragedies.
