Doctor Commits Suicide at Surat Kiran Hospital: In a deeply distressing incident, a young homeopathic doctor from Surat’s Kiran Hospital was found dead inside a hotel room in the Godadara area. Police officials have confirmed that the 33-year-old doctor, identified as Dr. Bhavesh Rahulbhai Kavad, allegedly ended his life by injecting himself with a fatal dose of anesthesia. The tragic case has shocked the local medical community and raised serious concerns about mental health pressures faced by healthcare professionals.
According to police reports, Dr. Kavad had checked into Hotel Nest, located in the Madhav Shopping Center, on the night of November 7. He reportedly arrived around 1 a.m. and booked Room No. 8 for a single night’s stay. However, when he failed to check out the next morning, the hotel staff grew suspicious.
Hotel Staff Alerted Police After Suspicious Silence
When repeated calls to his room went unanswered, and the door remained locked from inside, hotel staff immediately informed the police. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) V.M. Jadeja stated that officers reached the location promptly and broke open the door. Inside, they discovered the lifeless body of the doctor lying on the floor.
A syringe and a medicine vial were recovered from the scene, suggesting he had administered the injection himself. The police confirmed that Dr. Bhavesh injected anesthesia into his left arm, which led to his death. His body was later sent to Surat’s SMIMER Hospital for forensic postmortem examination.
Heart-Breaking Suicide Note Found at the Scene
Investigators also found a handwritten suicide note next to the body. The note, reportedly addressed to his wife Dhara, contained two emotional pages.
On one page, the doctor had drawn a sketch of his wife and written “I Love Dhara.”
On another, he wrote only a single word — “Nyay” (Justice) — raising questions about the reason behind his extreme step.
According to police sources, Dr. Kavad’s wife works as an accountant at a private firm in Ahmedabad. The couple had married in 2024 but reportedly lived together for only three months before separating due to personal differences. Since then, his wife had been residing in Ahmedabad while the doctor continued his practice in Surat.
Marital Discord May Have Triggered Depression
Preliminary investigations suggest that Dr. Bhavesh was possibly struggling with severe emotional distress linked to marital conflict. Police officials said that while no external injuries were found, the content of his note points toward emotional turmoil. Investigators are now working to understand the deeper meaning of the word “Justice” written in his final message.
A police officer involved in the probe stated,
“We suspect that the doctor was depressed due to ongoing personal issues. The word ‘Nyay’ might indicate that he felt wronged or sought some form of justice before taking this drastic step. We are analyzing his phone records, text messages, and personal diaries for more clues.”
From Rajula to Surat – A Promising Career Cut Short
Dr. Bhavesh hailed from Rajula, Amreli district, but had been living in Surat’s Dindoli area at Mahakhodiyarnagar Residency. Known among his colleagues as a calm and dedicated physician, he had been working at Kiran Hospital, one of Surat’s leading healthcare institutions, where he practiced homeopathy.
Colleagues and friends described him as “quiet, hardworking, and deeply committed to patient care.”
A senior doctor at Kiran Hospital, requesting anonymity, said,
“He never spoke much about his personal life, but we could sense he was under stress. His death has left all of us shaken.”
Police Begin Full-Scale Investigation
The Godadara Police have begun a full-scale investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. They have seized the suicide note, mobile phone, and other personal belongings for forensic analysis. CCTV footage from the hotel is also being reviewed to confirm his movements before the incident.
ACP Jadeja stated,
“At this point, it appears to be a case of suicide by overdose of anesthesia. However, we are exploring every possible angle — professional pressure, relationship issues, and psychological distress.”
Police added that they are also questioning hotel staff and close acquaintances to reconstruct the timeline of events leading up to his death.

Mental Health Concerns in the Medical Profession
The case has once again highlighted the mental health crisis among doctors, who often face high stress, long working hours, and emotional burnout. Medical experts emphasize that the stigma around mental health in India’s medical community needs urgent attention.
Psychiatrist Dr. Neha Desai from Surat commented,
“Doctors are trained to heal others but often ignore their own mental health. Emotional exhaustion, especially when combined with personal conflicts, can lead to tragic outcomes like this.”
She added that hospitals must provide psychological support systems and confidential counseling for staff to prevent such incidents.
A Community in Mourning
News of Dr. Bhavesh’s death spread quickly among the local medical fraternity. Many doctors and students at Kiran Hospital observed a moment of silence in his memory. His family members from Rajula arrived in Surat later that evening to claim the body.
One of his close friends said tearfully,
“He was a gentle soul. We can’t believe he’s gone. We only wish he had reached out for help.”
Authorities Urge Awareness and Support
As the investigation continues, authorities have urged citizens to pay attention to early signs of depression among loved ones and colleagues. The tragic story of the doctor who took his own life at Surat Kiran Hospital serves as a grim reminder that even caregivers need care.
