The Vav Tharad District Village List: Gujarat Gets Its 34th District

Gandhinagar, January 1, 2025 – On the very first day of the New Year, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel gave a historic gift to the people of North Gujarat by announcing the creation of a new district. In a significant Cabinet meeting, the government decided to divide the large Banaskantha district into two separate districts. This decision officially marks the birth of the Vav-Tharad district, fulfilling a long-standing public demand.

Why the Division Was Needed

Banaskantha has always been known as one of the biggest districts of Gujarat, not only in terms of land area but also in terms of the number of talukas. With 14 talukas and a vast area to manage, people often faced difficulties in accessing government services, administrative offices, and developmental facilities.

The creation of a new district is expected to reduce the administrative burden and bring governance closer to the people. This move also ensures that rural and urban citizens alike can receive government services more quickly and conveniently.

Formation of Vav-Tharad District

As per the official announcement, the newly formed Vav-Tharad district will include 8 talukas and 4 municipalities. The talukas are:

  • Vav
  • Bhabhar
  • Tharad
  • Dhanera
  • Suigam
  • Lakhni
  • Deodar
  • Kankrej

The municipalities that will now come under Vav-Tharad district are Bhabhar, Tharad, Thara, and Dhanera.

Meanwhile, the remaining 6 talukas—Palanpur, Danta, Amirgadh, Dantivada, Vadgam, and Deesa—will continue to be part of the original Banaskantha district, along with the municipalities of Palanpur and Deesa.

District Headquarters

To make administration smoother, Tharad has been chosen as the headquarters of the new Vav-Tharad district, while Palanpur will remain the administrative center of Banaskantha.

This decision is not just symbolic but highly practical. Earlier, residents of northern talukas had to travel long distances of 35 to 85 kilometers to reach Palanpur for official work. Now, with Tharad as the headquarters, people will save both time and fuel, and government offices will be more accessible.

Area Distribution

The division of Banaskantha has been carried out in an equitable manner. The new district statistics are as follows:

  • Vav-Tharad district: 6257 sq. km (approx. 600 villages)
  • Banaskantha district: 4486 sq. km (approx. 600 villages)

With this, both districts will have a fair share of villages and administrative units, ensuring balanced growth.

Public and Political Reactions

The announcement received an overwhelmingly positive response from locals, political leaders, and administrative officials. For many years, people of this region had been demanding a separate district due to the large size and population of Banaskantha. Finally, their demand has been fulfilled.

Minister Rushikesh Patel, the state government spokesperson, said that this new arrangement will bring administrative efficiency, improved development projects, and better resource allocation to the people of North Gujarat.

Impact on Development

The government expects several direct benefits from this decision:

  1. Faster Delivery of Services – Local citizens will no longer have to travel long distances for government work.
  2. Increased Grants and Funds – With two districts, the government will allocate more resources separately for infrastructure, education, and healthcare.
  3. Boost to Local Economy – Easier access to administration will also help small businesses, farmers, and industries grow.
  4. Human Development – Facilities like schools, hospitals, and transport will improve with higher government attention.

The Vav Tharad District Village List and Significance

According to initial plans, around 600 villages will now be part of the new district. The The Vav Tharad District Village List will include villages from all eight talukas, giving each region proper representation. This village distribution will ensure that every local body gets equal opportunity for growth under the new setup.

Once the complete list is officially published, it will guide local development schemes, panchayat allocations, and resource sharing between both districts.

A Historic Milestone

By taking this step, the Gujarat government has shown its commitment to balanced regional development. The decision is not just about administrative boundaries but about bringing governance closer to the people, boosting local participation, and ensuring that rural communities are not left behind.

Conclusion:The Vav Tharad District Village List

The announcement of the Vav-Tharad district is a landmark decision for North Gujarat. With Tharad as its headquarters, a fair distribution of talukas and villages, and greater accessibility to government services, this change promises a brighter future for residents.

The detailed The Vav Tharad District Village List will soon highlight how nearly 600 villages are aligned under the new system, making it easier for people to know their administrative jurisdiction.
