Bhavnagar News Today: As Diwali preparations gain momentum across Bhavnagar, homes are being cleaned, renovated, and refreshed for the festival of lights. In the midst of this festive spirit, the Indian Red Cross Society, Bhavnagar branch, has come forward with a heartwarming initiative to bring joy to underprivileged families this Diwali.

A Call to Donate Clothes, Toys, and Medicines

The Bhavnagar Red Cross Society has appealed to city residents to donate their unused but usable clothes, toys, and leftover medicines that remain after illness. These items can be delivered to the Red Cross office on Diwanpara Road, opposite Barton Library, by October 15.

For donors or families who have collected a large quantity of items, the Red Cross has made the process even easier. Volunteers can directly contact the organization at 9428406202 or 9825566642, and a Red Cross team will personally visit their homes to collect the donations.

Spreading Diwali Joy to the Underprivileged

According to Sumitbhai Thakkar, Vice-Chairman of the Indian Red Cross Bhavnagar, this noble service initiative has been ongoing for the past three years. During this period, the organization has successfully distributed over 3,000 sets of clothes to poor and lower-middle-class families.

This year, too, the Red Cross aims to collect and distribute essential items to families living in backward areas of the city, ensuring they can celebrate Diwali with dignity and happiness.

Beyond Donations: Extending Help to Patients in Need

Along with material donations, the Red Cross has also invited donors to extend support to patients suffering from thalassemia, hemophilia, kidney failure, and cancer. Donors can contribute sweets, medicines, or financial assistance to help these patients celebrate the festival with warmth and hope.

Community-Driven Initiative for a Brighter Diwali

This compassionate effort by the Bhavnagar Red Cross is a reminder that Diwali is not only about lighting lamps in our homes but also about spreading light in the lives of others. By donating unused yet valuable items, residents can play a small but meaningful role in making someone’s Diwali brighter.

As the city prepares for the festival, the Red Cross Society’s call to action stands as a beacon of humanity — encouraging Bhavnagar’s people to celebrate with generosity, empathy, and community spirit.
