Botad news update: A shocking murder case from Botad district’s Polarpur village has finally reached its conclusion. The District and Sessions Court has sentenced the accused, Vikram alias Kokam Jakshibhai Kumarkhaniya, to life imprisonment for brutally killing a young man three years ago. The case, registered in Barwala taluka, had drawn wide attention across Gujarat.
Murder in Polarpur Village
As per official records, the victim, Bharatbhai Bhagubhai Batiya, was attacked by Vikram with stones and wooden sticks. The assault was so severe that Bharatbhai died on the spot. After committing the crime, the accused went straight to the victim’s house and openly confessed to his wife and son, threatening them by saying, “I have killed Bharatbhai, do whatever you want.” This incident left the entire Polarpur village in fear and grief.
Case Registered in Barwala Police Station
Following the murder, the victim’s brother, Nileshbhai Bhagubhai Batiya, filed a complaint at Barwala Police Station on July 10, 2022. The police immediately registered a murder case and arrested the accused. Since then, he remained in custody while the investigation and trial continued in Botad district court.
Court Proceedings and Evidence
During the trial, the prosecution produced 15 key witnesses and 35 documentary proofs before the court. District Government Lawyer K.M. Makwana presented strong arguments, ensuring that the brutal act and threats were highlighted in detail. The court, after considering all evidence and testimonies, found the accused guilty beyond doubt.
Life Imprisonment and Compensation
District and Sessions Judge M.J. Parashar delivered the final judgment, sentencing the accused to life imprisonment along with a fine. The court also ordered compensation for the victim’s wife, Hulashben, to support her family after the tragic loss.
