Jeweler Murdered in Surat: In a shocking incident that has shaken the diamond city, a 40-year-old jeweler and gemstone artisan was brutally murdered late Wednesday night in the Kapodra area of Surat. The victim, identified as Suresh Premjibhai Chitroda, was returning home from his diamond workshop when two unidentified men on a motorbike attacked him with a knife and fled the scene. The horrifying attack, which occurred in a busy neighborhood, was captured on nearby CCTV cameras.

A Sudden Attack Near Himmatnagar, Kapodra

According to police reports, the incident took place in Himmatnagar locality of Kapodra. Suresh Chitroda, who worked as a gemstone artisan at a local diamond unit named Snehmudra, was heading home late at night after finishing his shift. As he rode his bike, two men approached him, stopped him on the road, and without warning, one of them stabbed him multiple times in the chest and abdomen.
Witnesses said that Suresh tried to move away but collapsed nearly ten feet from his motorcycle due to heavy bleeding. The assailants immediately fled on their bike, leaving the jeweler gravely injured.

Victim Died on the Spot

The attack was so severe that Suresh succumbed to his injuries on the spot before any help could arrive. Passersby gathered quickly, shocked by the public assault, and informed the police. Within minutes, teams from Kapodra Police Station arrived at the crime scene. Senior officers, including DCP Alok Kumar, DCP Raghav Jain, and two ACPs, rushed to the site to assess the situation and oversee the investigation.

Police Begin Investigation; CCTV Footage Examined

Authorities immediately launched an investigation into the Jeweler murdered in Surat case. The crime scene was cordoned off, and forensic experts from the FSL team collected samples for analysis. Police also started reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify the culprits and trace their escape route.

A senior police officer said, “We are checking multiple angles, including personal enmity, business rivalry, or robbery attempt. The investigation is progressing, and we hope to identify the accused soon.”

The Victim: Family Man and Skilled Gem Artisan

Sureshbhai Chitroda originally hailed from Upleta in Rajkot district. He had been living in Surat’s Kapodra area for several years with his wife and two young sons — aged 10 and 8. Known for his calm nature and hard work, he was the sole breadwinner of his family.

He had lost both parents at an early age and was considered the pillar of his household. For years, he supported his family by working long hours in the diamond industry, like thousands of artisans in Surat who polish gems and diamonds for global markets.

Diwali Week Turns Tragic for Family

It was supposed to be a happy week before the Diwali holidays, but fate had other plans. On the night of the attack, Suresh was returning home a bit late from work. Family members grew worried when he didn’t arrive on time, but by midnight, news of the fatal stabbing reached the local police.

Police officers initially refrained from informing the family about his death to prevent shock. Suresh’s wife was told that he had been injured and taken to the hospital. Only by morning did relatives break the devastating news — that Suresh was no more.

Grief and Shock in the Neighborhood

The news of the jeweler murdered in Surat spread quickly across Kapodra. Neighbors and fellow diamond workers gathered outside Suresh’s home to offer condolences. The family, still in disbelief, has been plunged into grief. His wife and children have lost their protector, and the family’s future remains uncertain.

One neighbor said, “Suresh was a kind man who never had any quarrels. We can’t believe someone would do this to him. The whole area is in shock.”

Officials confirmed that forensic samples have been sent for testing, and several local informants are being questioned to gather more details.

Justice Awaited for Surat’s Artisan Community

The Jeweler murdered in Surat case has triggered widespread outrage among Surat’s large community of diamond workers. Many artisans, who often work long hours for modest pay, have expressed fear and concern about safety during late-night commutes.

Police have assured the public that the culprits will be caught soon. Meanwhile, Suresh’s family is left mourning the loss of their beloved husband and father — a hardworking artisan whose life was cut short by a senseless act of violence.
