Jamnagar, Gujarat –Mount Tara: In a stunning display of courage and determination, Jamnagar native and Assistant Engineer (Class-2) in the Irrigation Department, Nachiketa Gupta, has made history by conquering an unknown peak in the Zanskar region of Ladakh, standing at an impressive 6,248 meters. The young engineer, along with his dedicated team, achieved this extraordinary feat without any prior record of successful ascent, marking a significant milestone in Himalayan mountaineering.

The 13-Day Challenging Expedition

The expedition, led by Aritra Chatterjee from Kolkata, consisted of six members who undertook this journey completely independently. They relied solely on their skills, teamwork, and perseverance, without any external guides or assistance.

Facing harsh weather conditions, sub-zero temperatures, and treacherous steep terrains, the team endured a grueling 13-day struggle. On the day of the summit, the climbers had to navigate through snow drifts reaching up to five to six feet. Despite extreme challenges, including the forced retreat of three members due to the conditions, the remaining team displayed exceptional bravery to reach the summit successfully.

Following mountaineering tradition, the first team to successfully climb an unnamed peak gets the honor of naming it.
