India Secures Top Spot on Points Table With Second Consecutive Win

After the men’s team’s victory streak, the women’s cricket team of India continued the winning momentum by defeating Pakistan by 88 runs in the ongoing Women’s World Cup 2025. With this commanding win, Team India climbed to the top of the points table, earning four points from two matches.

The match, played on Sunday, turned out to be a one-sided affair as India outclassed Pakistan in all departments. Pakistan captain Fatima Sana won the toss and opted to bowl first, but India managed to post a challenging total despite losing wickets at regular intervals.

Harleen Deol Top-Scored for India

Batting first, Team India scored 247 runs in their allotted 50 overs before being bowled out. Harleen Deol was the standout performer, contributing a vital 46 runs, while other batters chipped in with useful cameos. Pakistan’s bowlers initially looked disciplined, but they couldn’t maintain pressure in the middle overs.

Kranti Goud and Deepti Sharma Shine With the Ball

Chasing 248, Pakistan were bundled out for 159 runs in 43 overs. Sidra Ameen fought a lone battle with a well-made 81 runs, but her effort went in vain as the rest of the batting lineup collapsed under pressure.

For India, Kranti Goud and Deepti Sharma delivered match-winning spells, taking three wickets each, while Sneh Rana bagged two crucial wickets to seal the victory. Their combined bowling effort ensured India’s comprehensive win by 88 runs.

Fourth Consecutive Sunday Win Against Pakistan

Interestingly, this was the fourth consecutive Sunday when an Indian cricket team defeated Pakistan. Earlier, the Men’s Team India had beaten Pakistan on September 14, 21, and 28 in the Asia Cup 2025.

Toss Controversy Adds Drama

The match also saw a bit of drama during the toss. Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur flipped the coin, which landed on heads. However, Pakistan captain Fatima Sana had called tails, and due to a misunderstanding by match referee Shandre Fritz from South Africa, Pakistan was mistakenly declared the toss winner.

Despite the confusion, Women’s Team India won by 88 runs, marking yet another proud moment for Indian cricket fans worldwide.
