Speaking about his comeback, Shah Rukh said,

The nominations for the 70th Filmfare Awards 2025 were recently announced, with Kiran Rao’s “Laapataa Ladies” leading the list with 13 nominations. The film has received wide acclaim for its storytelling and fresh performances.

Other strong contenders include “Stree” with eight nominations and “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3” with five. Actors Nitanshi Goel and Pratibha Ranta from Laapataa Ladies have been nominated for Best Actress (Critics) alongside Alia Bhatt and Kareena Kapoor.

Actor Sparsh Shrivastava also earned a Critics’ nomination for Best Actor, competing with Randeep Hooda and Rajkummar Rao.

Spotlight on Gujarati Actress Janki Bodiwala

One of Gujarat’s proud talents, Janki Bodiwala, is among the most anticipated faces at Filmfare 2025. The actress, who recently won both the National Award and IIFA, has been nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Shaitaan.

She will be competing against Madhuri Dixit (Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3), Ahilya Bamroo (Main Baat Karna Chahta Hoon), Chhaya Kadam (Laapataa Ladies), and Priyamani (Article 370).

Other Gujarati nominees include Anees Bazmee (Best Director – Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3) and Hansal Mehta (Best Critics’ Film – The Buckingham Murders).

Filmfare Awards: A Journey Since 1954

The Filmfare Awards began in 1954, recognizing excellence in Hindi cinema. The first award went to the classic film Do Bigha Zameen. Over the decades, Filmfare has become one of India’s most prestigious film ceremonies.

Among the records, Ranveer Singh’s “Gully Boy” holds the title for winning the most Filmfare Awards (13 in total), while Aamir Khan’s “Rang De Basanti” received the highest nominations ever (19). Legendary writer-director Gulzar remains the most-awarded artist with 21 Filmfare wins.
