Dholera SIR has once again come into the spotlight after top government leaders and industry stakeholders gathered in Gandhinagar to review its progress. The event, an Investors Round Table Conference, was organized by the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC) and Dholera Industrial City Development Limited (DICDL) on Saturday. The focus was on evaluating the growth of the National Industrial Corridor Development Program and understanding the opportunities that Dholera offers for global investors.
Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal chaired the session. He praised Gujarat’s rapid strides in ease of doing business, manufacturing, and its efforts to build a supportive ecosystem for industries. According to Goyal, Gujarat has become a benchmark for other states, setting an example in economic growth and sustainable industrial planning.
This round table was the third in a series, following similar conferences in Delhi and Kochi. The meeting in Gujarat saw the participation of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Industries Minister Jagdish Vishwakarma, along with NICDC Managing Director and CEO and Special Secretary to the Government of India, Amrit Lal Meena.
Dholera SIR: India’s First Platinum-Rated Smart Industrial City
Highlighting the significance of Dholera, Piyush Goyal noted that the project holds the potential to become one of the world’s largest and most advanced manufacturing industrial zones. He described Dholera SIR as India’s first platinum-rated industrial smart city, showcasing the country’s capability to develop futuristic urban-industrial hubs.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also underlined Gujarat’s achievements in multiple governance and industry-related indices. He pointed out that Gujarat consistently ranks on top in the Ease of Doing Business (EODB), Logistics Performance Index (LPI), Good Governance Index (GGI), Export Readiness Index, and the Startup Ecosystem rankings. These achievements, Patel said, are a reflection of Gujarat’s commitment to providing a strong foundation for industries and entrepreneurs.
A Visionary Project of National Importance
Dholera SIR is widely recognized as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream project, first announced in 2009. The region has been envisioned as a global hub for innovation, technology, and manufacturing, designed with world-class infrastructure and a focus on sustainability. Its development is expected to attract massive domestic and international investments, thereby boosting employment, exports, and overall economic growth.
Industry experts believe that once fully developed, Dholera SIR will not only redefine India’s industrial landscape but also compete with leading international industrial zones. With strong government support, advanced planning, and a growing interest from global investors, the project is moving steadily toward becoming a landmark in India’s economic journey.
