Dudhsagar Dairy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated two significant projects of Dudhsagar Dairy, Mehsana, through a virtual ceremony. The inauguration marked a major step in strengthening India’s dairy and agriculture sectors. Alongside these projects, PM Modi also launched nationwide agricultural and livestock development works worth ₹42,000 crore.

₹500 Crore Projects to Strengthen Dudhsagar Dairy’s Production Capacity

At the heart of the event were two new facilities at Dudhsagar Dairy — a 120 metric ton per day milk powder plant and a 3.5 lakh per day Tetra Pack plant. Built with a total investment of around ₹500 crore, these projects will significantly enhance the dairy’s production capacity.

According to officials, this expansion will directly benefit thousands of dairy farmers associated with Dudhsagar Dairy. The new plants will enable higher milk processing, longer shelf life products, and wider market reach — strengthening Gujarat’s position as India’s dairy powerhouse.

PM Modi Launches Initiative to Boost Crop Yield in 100 Districts

During the same event, PM Modi also launched a new national scheme focused on increasing agricultural production in 100 districts where crop yield has historically been low.

Dudhsagar Dairy Chairman Ashok Chaudhary highlighted that the initiative aims to help farmers in these districts overcome local challenges and improve productivity. The goal is to make these regions competitive with the leading agricultural districts of India.

Chaudhary added that while India is self-sufficient in grain production, the country still imports a large portion of its pulses. Hence, a new “Atmanirbhar Mission in Pulse Production” was also announced to make India self-reliant in this segment.

₹42,000 Crore Development Projects Across Multiple Sectors

In addition to the Dudhsagar Dairy projects, the Prime Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation for over 1,100 schemes worth ₹42,000 crore. These projects span across agriculture, animal husbandry, and fisheries, representing a major push toward rural and agro-industrial development.

The inclusion of Dudhsagar Dairy’s plants in this national initiative reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening India’s dairy infrastructure and empowering livestock farmers through innovation and technology.

Government Support Worth ₹100 Crore for Dudhsagar Dairy

The Department of Animal Husbandry has also approved special financial assistance for these dairy projects. Over the next seven years, Dudhsagar Dairy will receive around ₹80–100 crore in interest subsidies.

This includes a 3% subsidy from the Central Government and a 1% subsidy under Gujarat’s Atmanirbhar Mission, making the projects more financially sustainable.

Experts believe that such support will not only reduce operational costs but also encourage more dairies to adopt modern technology and expand capacity.

A Milestone for Farmers and the Dairy Industry

The inauguration of these new plants marks a new era of growth for Dudhsagar Dairy and the farmers of North Gujarat. The dairy’s enhanced production capacity will allow it to serve domestic and export markets more efficiently, ensuring better returns for rural milk producers.

Chairman Ashok Chaudhary expressed gratitude to both the Central and State Governments, saying,

“These projects will empower our dairy farmers and help make India stronger in milk and dairy product production. The combined efforts of the government and cooperative institutions like Dudhsagar Dairy will ensure prosperity for farmers and the nation.”
