Dwarka, October 11, 2025: In a remarkable spiritual and educational engagement, President Draupadi Murmu paid a visit to the revered Dwarkadhish Temple today. Accompanied by her daughter Itishree Murmu, the President offered her prayers at the holy shrine, performing a ceremonial Paduka Puja with deep devotion. The visit marked a moment of divine gratitude as President Murmu prayed for the peace, prosperity, and welfare of all Indian citizens.

Spiritual Reverence at Dwarkadhish Temple

President Draupadi Murmu’s visit to Dwarka was met with great enthusiasm and warmth by local dignitaries and temple authorities. The event saw the presence of Tourism Minister Mulubhai Bera, District Collector Rajesh Tanna, Range IG Ashok Kumar Yadav, Police Superintendent Jayraj Singh Wala, Provincial Officer Amol Awate, and Deputy Collector Himanshu Chauhan, among others.

The temple administration honored the President with traditional offerings, including a ceremonial Uparna, a miniature representation of Dwarkadhish Temple, flowers, tulsi-made incense, gold-plated Dwarkadhish idol, and prasad. The heartfelt reception highlighted the significance of the temple in the spiritual and cultural landscape of India.

Presence at Gujarat Vidyapith 71st Convocation

Following the temple visit, President Murmu is scheduled to attend the 71st convocation of Gujarat Vidyapith, an institution established by Mahatma Gandhi in 1920. The convocation will see over 713 students awarded degrees across seven faculties and 18 departments, including Ph.D., M.Phil., postgraduate, and undergraduate programs. Out of these, 347 female students and 366 male students will receive their degrees, with 459 participants registered to attend the ceremony in person.

This convocation marks a significant milestone as it is the first time in history that the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel, will also be present at the ceremony. President Murmu’s participation as a chief guest is especially notable, being the seventh sitting President to attend the convocation, following in the footsteps of former Presidents like Pranab Mukherjee who attended in 2015.

Honoring Academic Excellence

During the convocation, nine students will be awarded the Suvarna Chandrak (Gold Medal) for their outstanding academic performance. The annual report of Gujarat Vidyapith will also be presented, reflecting the institution’s contributions to education, social work, and research.

In addition, President Murmu will inaugurate a symbolic representation of the “Gramjeevan Yatra”, scheduled for November, which involves students traveling to rural areas to promote education, sustainable farming, and community development. This initiative reflects Gujarat Vidyapith’s commitment to rural outreach and experiential learning.

Over 2,000 Students to Participate in Gramjeevan Yatra

According to Vice-Chancellor Dr. Harshad Patel, more than 2,000 students will participate in the Gramjeevan Yatra from November 10 to 15, visiting villages and engaging with local communities. Preparations have been ongoing for the past week, with students actively involved in decorating the campus, planting trees, and arranging the stage for the convocation.

The Gramjeevan Yatra, initiated in 2007, is a tradition where students live and work in rural areas for a week, gaining firsthand experience of village life. Last year’s theme was based on natural farming, covering over 18,000 villages, and this year, President Murmu’s presence will make the inauguration even more special.
