BLO special allowance: Gujarat government has announced a one-time special allowance for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and BLO Supervisors involved in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) work related to electoral rolls. Under the decision, eligible BLOs will receive a special allowance of ₹4,000, while BLO Supervisors will be paid ₹6,000.
The decision comes as a major relief and incentive for BLOs and supervisors who have been carrying out voter-list revision and SIR-related responsibilities across Gujarat. The allowance will be paid in addition to the regular annual honorarium already provided to eligible employees.
Gujarat BLO Special Allowance Announced for SIR Work
The state government has approved a BLO special allowance for employees involved in SIR activities. According to the decision, a Booth Level Officer will be eligible for a one-time payment of ₹4,000, while a BLO Supervisor will receive ₹6,000.
The announcement follows approval from the Finance Department. After receiving the required financial approval, the General Administration Department (GAD) issued the official resolution regarding the special payment.
The decision is expected to provide financial recognition to thousands of BLOs and supervisors working across Gujarat on electoral roll-related duties.
BLOs to Receive ₹4,000 and Supervisors ₹6,000
Under the newly announced arrangement, the special allowance has been fixed at different levels based on the responsibilities assigned to BLOs and BLO Supervisors.
A BLO will receive ₹4,000, while a BLO Supervisor will receive ₹6,000 as a one-time special allowance for the SIR work.
However, the payment will not be made automatically to every employee simply on the basis of assignment. The performance and duties carried out by the concerned employees will be reviewed before the final payment is approved.
Performance Review Will Determine Eligibility
The official decision states that the work performed by BLOs and BLO Supervisors will be reviewed before the special allowance is released.
The Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) will conduct a detailed assessment of the work carried out by the concerned employees. The number of days for which the employee performed the assigned duties, along with the quality and overall standard of the work, will be taken into consideration.
Only after this review will the final decision regarding payment of the special allowance be taken.
Special Allowance Is in Addition to Annual Honorarium
One of the important points in the decision is that the newly announced payment is separate from the regular annual honorarium received by eligible BLOs and supervisors.
This means the ₹4,000 BLO special allowance and ₹6,000 allowance for BLO Supervisors will be provided as an additional one-time payment for the SIR-related work. It will not replace the regular annual honorarium.
The move is therefore being seen as an additional financial incentive for employees who have been given responsibilities related to voter-list revision and SIR activities.
Annual Honorarium and Special Allowance to Be Credited Together
As per the decision, the regular annual honorarium and the newly approved special allowance will be deposited into the bank accounts of eligible employees together.
This arrangement will allow eligible BLOs and BLO Supervisors to receive both payments through the prescribed process once their eligibility and performance assessment have been completed.
For BLOs across Gujarat, the ₹4,000 one-time payment provides additional financial support, while BLO Supervisors will receive ₹6,000 in recognition of their responsibilities during the SIR exercise.
Major Decision for Gujarat BLOs and Supervisors
The announcement represents an important financial incentive for the officials involved in the electoral roll revision process. BLOs are responsible for carrying out important field-level activities connected with voter information and electoral rolls, while supervisors oversee and coordinate the work of BLOs.
With the SIR exercise requiring extensive fieldwork and verification, the state government’s decision to provide a one-time special allowance is expected to offer additional support to eligible personnel.
The payment will be subject to the prescribed performance review and other eligibility conditions. Once the assessment process is completed, eligible employees will receive the applicable amount along with their regular annual honorarium.
For Gujarat’s BLOs and BLO Supervisors, the announcement of up to ₹6,000 in special allowance is therefore a significant development linked to the SIR electoral roll revision work.
