Gujarat New Cabinet Sworn In: In a politically strategic move ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections and the upcoming municipal, district, and taluka panchayat polls in January, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has announced Gujarat’s new cabinet. The formation clearly reflects the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) intent to balance regional and caste representation while preparing a young, energetic team to lead the state.
Strong Representation for Saurashtra, Kutch, OBCs and Patidars
The new Gujarat cabinet has shown a noticeable increase in representation from Saurashtra and Kutch regions as well as from OBC (Other Backward Classes) and Patidar communities. Out of the total ministers, 8 belong to the OBC community, while 7 are Patidars.
This marks a visible shift from the previous cabinet, which had only 4 Patidar and 6 OBC ministers. The inclusion of more ministers from these communities demonstrates BJP’s strategy to strengthen its grassroots appeal among socially dominant and politically active groups in Gujarat.
Notably, this time three Dalit ministers, including two women, have been inducted into the cabinet — a significant step toward inclusive representation.
Regional Balance: Saurashtra Gains More Weight
The Saurashtra and Central Gujarat regions have emerged as the biggest gainers in the new cabinet. With 9 ministers from Saurashtra-Kutch, the region now holds strong political influence.
Ahmedabad continues to play a central role since both the Chief Minister and the BJP State President hail from there, but South Gujarat’s representation has slightly decreased in percentage terms despite having more ministers numerically.
This distribution underlines the BJP’s calculated move to focus on regions where electoral outcomes have a direct impact on the 2027 state polls.
A Younger, More Dynamic Team
The average age of ministers has come down from 60 to 55 years, signaling a generational shift in Gujarat politics. The cabinet now includes 9 ministers under the age of 50, reflecting BJP’s aim to promote young leaders and nurture the next generation of political leadership.
Youngest Ministers:
- Reeva Ba Jadeja (35 years)
- Kaushik Vekariya (39 years)
- Harsh Sanghavi (40 years)
- Praveen Mali (40 years)
Oldest Ministers:
- Kanu Desai (74 years)
- Kunvarji Bavaliya (70 years)
This balance between experience and youth is a strategic approach to blend administrative wisdom with energetic governance.
Reeva Ba Jadeja: The Youngest and Wealthiest Minister
Among all ministers, Reeva Ba Jadeja, MLA from Jamnagar, stands out as the youngest and also the wealthiest in the cabinet. She declared assets worth ₹97.36 crore, the highest among all members of the new team.
In comparison, the previous cabinet’s richest minister, Balvantsinh Rajput, owned assets worth ₹324 crore. With his exclusion this time, the average asset value of the new cabinet has dropped from ₹30 crore to ₹11 crore.
Harsh Sanghavi Becomes Gujarat’s Youngest Deputy Chief Minister
A major highlight of the new Gujarat cabinet is the elevation of Harsh Sanghavi as the Deputy Chief Minister, making him the youngest person ever to hold this position in the state’s history.
Sanghavi, a three-time MLA from Majura constituency in Surat, has been one of BJP’s most prominent young leaders. Previously, he served as the National Vice President of BJP Yuva Morcha and also held the post of State General Secretary of the youth wing.
His political journey is marked by dedication and strong grassroots connect. Known for his active involvement in youth and sports initiatives, Sanghavi played an important role in Gujarat’s preparations for the Commonwealth and Olympic events.
Historically, Gujarat has seen several deputy chief ministers including Keshubhai Patel, Narhari Amin, and Nitin Patel, but Sanghavi’s appointment signifies a clear generational change in leadership.

Gender Imbalance: No Female Ministers in the Cabinet
Despite efforts toward inclusive governance, the new cabinet surprisingly includes no female ministers, a move that has sparked mild criticism. While the BJP has included women in earlier cabinets, the current lineup seems to have prioritized youth and regional equations over gender balance.
Gujarat New Cabinet: A Political Strategy for the Future
The formation of this cabinet underlines BJP’s long-term political strategy — youth empowerment, regional balance, and caste inclusivity. With 12 first-term MLAs being appointed as ministers, the government is clearly preparing a fresh team to connect with the new generation of voters ahead of the 2027 elections.
By giving strong representation to Saurashtra, OBCs, and young leaders, the BJP aims to maintain its stronghold across all social and regional segments.

Conclusion: Gujarat New Cabinet Sworn In
The Gujarat new cabinet sworn in under Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel represents a mix of experience, youth, and social diversity. The inclusion of emerging faces like Harsh Sanghavi and Reeva Ba Jadeja signals a clear message — Gujarat’s governance is shifting toward a younger, more dynamic era.
While the lack of women ministers may invite debate, the overall structure of the cabinet suggests that BJP is aligning its leadership for stability, inclusivity, and strategic electoral gains ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
