Surat to Bangkok: In a major boost to South Gujarat’s global air connectivity, Surat International Airport is all set to operate its first daily international flight on the Surat to Bangkok route starting December 1, 2025.

The service, operated by Air India Express, previously flew only four times a week. However, due to a consistently high passenger load exceeding 90%, the airline has decided to upgrade the service to a daily schedule. This move marks a significant milestone in Surat’s journey toward becoming a fully developed international aviation hub.

Strong Passenger Demand Drives the Change

Air India Express officials confirmed that the remarkable passenger response on the Surat–Bangkok–Surat route made this expansion inevitable. The airline noted that nearly every flight recorded full occupancy, demonstrating strong demand from both leisure travelers and business passengers.

Starting December 1, residents and entrepreneurs from Surat and nearby regions will enjoy greater flexibility and convenience when traveling to Thailand’s capital. The daily Surat to Bangkok flights will also enable seamless connectivity for international travelers seeking to explore India’s diamond city.

Boost for Trade, Tourism, and International Relations

Surat is widely known as India’s textile and diamond powerhouse. With the launch of daily international connectivity to Bangkok, local traders will find it easier to expand business ties across Southeast Asia. Tourism operators also anticipate a surge in travelers from both countries, as the route offers access to cultural, medical, and holiday destinations.

Experts believe this upgrade will strengthen Surat’s reputation as a fast-growing international gateway. It’s expected to open doors for future routes to destinations like Dubai, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur.

Delhi–Surat Flight to Operate Daily Too

To ensure smooth domestic and international connections, Air India Express has also announced that its Delhi–Surat flight will now operate daily.

Previously available only four times a week, the morning flight departing Delhi at 5:30 AM will now run every day. With this adjustment, the total number of Delhi–Surat–Delhi weekly flights will increase from 22 to 28, making travel between the two cities more accessible and frequent.

Daily Service to Redefine Surat’s Global Identity

The introduction of the Surat to Bangkok daily service represents more than just improved connectivity—it symbolizes Surat’s rising global status. The city’s international airport, once considered secondary to Mumbai, has rapidly evolved with growing passenger capacity and world-class infrastructure.

Local business leaders have welcomed the move, calling it a turning point for Surat’s global visibility. According to aviation analysts, the daily Bangkok service will not only enhance trade and tourism but also attract foreign investors seeking opportunities in Gujarat.

A Step Forward for Surat’s Aviation Future

With consistent growth in passenger traffic and a rising number of domestic and international routes, Surat Airport is now emerging as one of India’s most promising aviation centers. The success of the Surat to Bangkok daily operation could encourage more international airlines to explore routes from this region.

The development aligns with India’s broader goal of strengthening regional airports under the government’s UDAN scheme, aiming to connect Tier-2 cities with key global destinations.
