Vadodara News

Vadodara news once again highlights the growing concern of reckless driving in the city. On the night of October 1, during the ninth day of Navratri, a shocking incident unfolded near the Old Makarpura Police Station. A luxury Land Rover driver, allegedly intoxicated, hit a young girl riding pillion on a bike and later created chaos by manhandling a traffic constable.

According to police sources, the accused has been identified as Devendrasinh Harisinh Sindha, a resident of Satva Aroma Flats, Sai Chowkdi, Manjalpur. Originally from Nawabazar in Karjan, Vadodara, Sindha was driving his Land Rover Freelander in an extremely reckless manner when the accident took place.

Wrong-Side Driving Leads to Collision

The incident began when traffic policemen Head Constable Kuldeepsinh Chhotubha and Constable Alsingh Daliya, who were on duty near Bhavans School traffic point, noticed the Land Rover approaching from Spandan Circle. Instead of taking the proper route, the driver suddenly turned onto the wrong side of the road.

During this reckless maneuver, the luxury SUV rammed into a bike that was traveling towards Pratapnagar. The collision caused injuries to a young girl who was sitting as a pillion rider. She reportedly sustained leg injuries due to the impact.

Instead of taking responsibility, the driver entered into a heated argument with the bikers. Witnesses at the scene reported that the man appeared heavily drunk, and his aggressive behavior only worsened as people tried to intervene.

Clash with Traffic Police

When the traffic constables attempted to control the situation and asked him to move the vehicle aside, the driver refused to cooperate. He began abusing Head Constable Kuldeepsinh and then physically assaulted him in front of gathered commuters.

The shocking altercation was caught on video, which quickly spread across social media platforms, adding further embarrassment to the city’s law and order scenario. Eyewitnesses said the driver’s condition made it clear that he was under the heavy influence of alcohol.

As more people gathered at the scene, the accused picked arguments with pedestrians as well. The atmosphere turned tense, and people feared further violence.

Police Control Room Alerted

Constable Alsinghbhai immediately informed the police control room about the escalating situation. Within minutes, a PCR van from Makarpura Police Station rushed to the spot.

Since the area falls under the jurisdiction of Manjalpur Police Station, the accused was handed over to them for further action.

On questioning, the driver was identified as Devendrasinh Harisinh Sindha, who resides in a posh apartment complex in Manjalpur. He originally hails from Karjan town in Vadodara district.

Vehicle Seized, FIR Registered

The police seized the Land Rover Freelander involved in the incident. During interrogation, officers confirmed that the accused smelled strongly of alcohol, and his red eyes indicated clear signs of intoxication.

An official FIR was registered against Sindha for rash driving, drunken driving, assaulting a government servant on duty, and causing public disturbance.

The Vadodara police stated that strict action would be taken in the matter. “Driving under the influence of alcohol endangers lives, and assaulting police officers is a serious crime. We have taken custody of the accused and his luxury vehicle,” said an official.

Similar Incidents Raise Concern

This is not the first time Vadodara has witnessed such a reckless act involving luxury cars. In an earlier case, Raksit Chaurasia caused a horrific accident in Karelibaug while driving a high-end car. That incident left the city shaken, and authorities had promised tighter vigilance on drunk driving.

The latest case, however, proves that the problem persists, especially during festival seasons when traffic increases and celebrations often involve alcohol consumption. Citizens have expressed anger over such repeat incidents and demanded stricter enforcement of traffic laws.

Public Reaction and Safety Appeal

The video of the altercation between the drunk driver and the constable has gone viral, sparking outrage among Vadodara residents. Many took to social media to express their concern over the increasing number of drunk-driving cases in the city.

Locals pointed out that such reckless acts could have easily claimed innocent lives. “If the girl on the bike had suffered a major injury, who would take responsibility? People think luxury cars and money can save them, but the law must act strictly,” commented one resident.

Traffic police have appealed to citizens to strictly avoid driving under the influence of alcohol, particularly during festive occasions. They also urged families and friends to stop anyone from taking the wheel if they are intoxicated.
