Rajkot Delhi 2 New Flights Started

Two new daily flights launched from Rajkot to Delhi

Rajkot Delhi 2 New Flights Started: Rajkot, one of Saurashtra’s most important industrial cities, has taken another major step toward better air connectivity. From today, two new daily flights between Rajkot and Delhi have officially started, marking a significant moment for business travelers, industrialists, and regular passengers.

The new flight routes were inaugurated on the auspicious day of Labh Pancham. The first flight took off from the Rajkot International Airport at Hirasar, located near Chotila on the Rajkot–Ahmedabad Highway. The launch event was warmly welcomed by citizens, business leaders, and government officials.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, during his visit to Rajkot, announced the start of these new flights and expressed his happiness at traveling on one of the inaugural routes himself. He also revealed plans to begin an international flight between Rajkot and Dubai soon, stating that the proposal has already been submitted to the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

Morning flights to improve Delhi connectivity

For over two years, Rajkot lacked an early-morning flight to Delhi — a major concern for traders, industrialists, and political leaders who frequently travel for business and official work. With these new services, that gap has finally been filled.

According to Mandaviya, the Rajkot Delhi 2 new flights started today are operated by Air India and IndiGo Airlines. IndiGo’s 186-seater flight departs daily at 8:05 AM from Rajkot International Airport and lands in Delhi at 9:50 AM, making it ideal for one-day business trips. Passengers can complete their meetings in the capital and return the same evening on the 5:30 PM Delhi–Rajkot flight.

Air India’s new flight departs at 10:10 AM, giving travelers more flexibility and options to plan their schedules conveniently. This move is expected to greatly benefit Rajkot and Morbi’s growing business community.

Rajkot to Dubai flight proposal under consideration

During his media interaction, Mandaviya also discussed future plans for international connectivity. He emphasized that Rajkot, being an industrial hub connecting cities like Morbi, Dwarka, Somnath, and Porbandar, deserves a direct international flight.

“Businessmen from Morbi and Rajkot often need to travel abroad for trade. Many international buyers also visit Saurashtra frequently,” said Mandaviya. “To make travel easier and faster, I have proposed a Rajkot–Dubai flight to the Civil Aviation Ministry.”

If approved, this route will significantly enhance Rajkot’s position as a global business destination and support the rapid growth of industries in ceramics, engineering, and manufacturing sectors.

Economic and travel advantages for Rajkot

The Rajkot Delhi 2 new flights started today will bring a wave of benefits to the region. The improved connectivity is expected to:

  • Save valuable time for entrepreneurs and professionals.
  • Increase trade opportunities between Saurashtra and the national capital.
  • Attract more investors to Rajkot’s industrial zones.
  • Encourage tourism in nearby destinations like Somnath, Dwarka, and Gir.

Additionally, travelers can now enjoy same-day return trips to Delhi, which was not possible earlier due to limited flight options.

Rajkot International Airport: A growing aviation hub

The Rajkot International Airport at Hirasar was inaugurated on July 27, 2023, to replace the old city airport. However, morning flights to Delhi had been suspended for nearly two years. With these new flights, the airport has regained its full operational strength.

Currently, the airport handles 11 daily flights, including routes to Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad, and Goa. Among these, eight are operated by IndiGo Airlines and three by Air India. A 9-seater Ventura flight also connects Rajkot with Surat.

The introduction of these new Delhi flights will now raise the frequency of operations and help the airport evolve into a more significant air hub for western India.

Future plans: More routes and international expansion

Although the current winter schedule does not include a connecting flight to Kolkata, officials suggest that once Kolkata–China flights begin, Rajkot–Kolkata connectivity might also be introduced soon. This would open a direct gateway for Rajkot travelers to East Asia.

Mandaviya emphasized that as Rajkot continues to grow as an industrial city, expanding air connectivity is essential for sustaining business momentum. The upcoming Rajkot–Dubai international flight is expected to be the next milestone in this journey.
